Job Overview
As a Utility Clerk at E. & J. Gallo Winery, you will provide quality service to all internal/external customers supporting their needs. This service includes facilitating material handling requests, providing timely courier services, completing mail/freight delivery routes, and responding to customer complaints by utilizing Lean problem solving-techniques. Adaptability, teamwork, and a strong sense of urgency are important characteristics that a Utility Clerk must possess to support the growth of our business and drive continuous improvement within our processes.
What You Will Do
Material Shipping & Receiving

•  Tracks material volumes and reports out information in weekly Gemba walks.
•  Processes the shipping of all outbound packages using all types of carriers and shipping systems; follows legal guidelines to choose best carrier.
•  Package shipments using various tools to prepare for outbound shipping.
•  General filing and recordkeeping.

Material Handling/Disposition

•  Load/offload carriers in support of all operations.
•  Complete errands in support of all areas on both on and off the Modesto campus.
•  Participate in personnel and furniture relocations.
•  Participate in set up for various functions, special events or meetings which also includes training room set ups.

Mail Center Route and Administration activities

•  Distribute internal freight/packages/mail/wine to recipients within the Modesto campus.
•  Utilizes package tracking system and equipment to facilitate deliveries.
•  Utilizes mail meter machine and customized mail systems/database to process outbound mail.

Vehicle Management

•  Actively participate in vehicle maintenance program management which includes tracking repair expenditures, scheduling repair activities and all vehicle recordkeeping.

Quality Control / Training

•  Conduct weekly/daily safety, 5S, GMP and quality inspections per company requirements.
•  Attend all safety, general and job specific trainings as required.
•  Provide on the job training, work instruction training to new hires and cross train team members.

What You Will Need:

•  High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 1 year of manufacturing, shipping/receiving, customer service, logistics or warehouse experience.
•  Candidates for this position must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver's license or appropriate state driver's license within 30 days of hire.
•  Required to lift, push or pull up to 75 pounds of material.
•  Required to obtain a forklift operators certification upon hire.
•  Required to possess Gallo Safety Awareness training or undergo training at the time of hire.
•  Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
•  Skilled in writing simple correspondence.
•  Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.
•  Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
•  Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

Compensation:

•  Hiring Salary Range Posted: $19.90 - $26.92 / hour
•  Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
