Job Description
Veritas Winery in Afton, Virginia is looking to hire harvest interns for the upcoming 2024 grape
harvest. Veritas is a family run 20,000-case winery situated in the Blue Ridge Mountains just
West of Charlottesville, Virginia. Veritas is part of the Monticello AVA and is a 100-acre estate
with more than 50 acres of primarily Bordeaux vinifera, all planted by the current owners
beginning in 1999. The position will start in July and run until the end of October with the
possibility of extension for workers with a great work ethic and attitude.

Primary Purpose
Harvest Interns will assist the production and winemaking staff with all harvest-related activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•  Processing and sorting fruit.
•  Operating a forklift.
•  Racking and pumping of juice and wine; moving hoses and equipment
•  Punch downs.
•  Cleaning and sanitizing all winery equipment.
•  Filling and emptying barrels.
•  Making chemical additions to juice and wine.
•  Working long hours including evenings and weekends.
•  Completing and filling out work orders accurately.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
•  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•  Must be able to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules and procedures, and be
able to read cellar work orders, count barrels, and record times and dates. Basic math skills required.
•  Tolerance for working in variable indoor and outdoor temperatures, hot to cold.
•  Individuals selected for this position must be reliable, punctual, have a good work ethic and a
great attitude. Previous experience is preferred, but not required.

PHYSICAL DEMAND
The physical effort typically applied in this job includes: Lifting, pulling, reaching, carrying,
pushing, shoveling.
Applicants must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Concentrated mental and/or visual attention is required; the work involves performing complex
tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications.
